A new house that had to look like it had been on the street for a century. The plan is straightforward — a deep porch, a wide entry, rooms that open into one another — and the work is in the detail: shingle courses, knee braces under the gables, and interior trim run to match the period.

Inside, most of the storage is built in. The fireplace cabinets, the kitchen and the bedroom casework were all made for their walls, which is what keeps a 4,400-square-foot house from feeling like a new one.
